Privacy and document handling
This page describes the current application behavior that a user should understand before uploading matter documents.
What is sent to search providers
The application sends the research question to configured public research providers when source-backed research is requested. Uploaded documents are not sent to those public search providers.
What may be sent to model providers
Document explanations, summaries, extraction, and case-synthesis features may send extracted document text to the configured language-model provider needed to perform that requested action. The exact provider depends on deployment configuration.
Storage and deletion
Original uploads and extracted text are stored by the application so they can be used in the case file. Users can remove documents through the application, including a permanent-delete path. Backup deletion and provider-retention behavior must be confirmed against the deployed infrastructure and provider agreements before being described as immediate or complete.
Training and access
Locke does not use matter documents as public research sources. Whether a model provider retains or uses submitted text is governed by the configured provider account and its applicable terms; this should be confirmed for each production deployment.
